| Description |
EVPmaker is an experimental software for the generation of acoustic "raw material" for recordings of paranormal voices on tape, also known as "Electronic Voice Phenomena" (EVP). For this purpose, the program divides any recording of speech into short segments and then plays them back continuously in randomly order. The resulting "gibberish" still sounds like speech, but can't be understood anymore, and is therefore suited as background noise for EVP recordings. Of course, the program can also be used to generate special acoustical or musical effects.
More information about EVP can be found on the Web site of
VTF, the German Association For Transcommunication Research
or
AA-EVP, the American Association of Electronic Voice Phenomena.

Building a Hardware Random Bit Generator for EVPmaker (06/29/2008) Although EVPmaker functions well with software-generated pseudo random numbers, it might be advantageous to use "true" random numbers. This article shows how you can build a simple hardware random bit generator for EVPmaker. |

Using EVPmaker with SpeakJet Allophones (05/30/2008) This article shows how EVPmaker can be set up to use the 72 allophones of the SpeakJet™ chip as an audio source to generate a robotic-like random voice which seems to produce interesting results when used for EVP sessions. |
| Beware of Profiteers |
I've been informed that my software EVPmaker is being sold by profiteers. They have downloaded the program and the allophones file for free from my website (which anyone can do), put it on a CD or pack it into a ZIP file, and offer it for about 15 to 20 USD to unsuspecting visitors. To prevent people from finding the original EVPmaker website where everything can be downloaded for free, they deliberately don't mention the name "EVPmaker"; instead they market it as "Cross Talk", "Spiritual Communicator", etc., promising that one would get a "walkie-talkie to the dead" which is of course not the case — in fact, I call EVPmaker an experimental software.
Although I permit the distribution of EVPmaker by third parties, it's of course not my aim that certain individuals make money out of it by selling it under a different name, and by making false promises. If you hear of other names than the ones mentioned before, please e-mail me, so I can list them here in order to direct Google searches to this original EVPmaker website.
